The family of Emma Rosetta Fox and George Washington Rainwater

On 20 Sep 1863, William Howard Rainwater, Sr. and his wife, Minerva Ann Rayborn Rainwater, welcomed into the world a son named George Washington Rainwater. Born in Pulaski Co., KY, he was the last of the ten children born into this family.

Between 1863 and 1870, the family moved to Hamblin Township, Brown Co., Indiana, where the entire family worked the farm. Here George attended school and met Emma Rosetta Fox, whom he married on 23 December 1887.

George and Emma produced a large family, ten children in all: John William, born Mar 1888; Matthew Floyd, born Jan 1891; Ethel Belle, born Jan 1894; Thomas Marion, born Mar 1896; Louisa Frances, born Jan 1899; Raymond, born ca 1902; Henry, born ca 1905; Earl, born 21 May 1908; Donald, born ca 1911; and Mabel May, born 27 Jul 1913 and died 24 May 1914. All of the children (except Mabel) attended school.

Between 1891 and 1894, George and Emma moved their family from Indiana to Jefferson Co., Illinois, and later to Four Mile Township, Wayne Co., Illinois, where his brother Miles lived and farmed.

George died on 24 Dec 1943; Emma died on 30 Dec 1950. They are buried together in Egbert Cemetery, Wayne Co., IL.
