Loyal George Rainwater

Loyal George Rainwater, shown here between two friends, was the eldest son of Charles Elliott Rainwater and Lydia Jane Smith. Born in Cape Fair, Missouri in 1906, he was one of six children who lived to adulthood. His father’s branch of the Rainwater family haled from Pulaski Co., Kentucky, but Charles had moved to Missouri in the early years of the 20th century, married and started a family.

The years between 1910 and 1920 may have been spent in both Kentucky and Missouri. Loyal’s sister Ruby was born in Pulaski County in 1911, but brothers Vernon and Raymond were born in Missouri. In the 1920 census, though, the family is living in Pulaski Co., Kentucky.

Sometime prior to 1930, Loyal married Mildred Nancy Edwards. The couple had three children: Douglas Theodore, Loretta and Maude Lee.

Loyal George Rainwater died on November 30, 1946 and is buried in Carney Cemetery, Barry Co., Missouri. His widow, Mildred, died in 1995.
